Brandwells scoops ‘Pride in the Job’ awards

Brandwells has won three of four regional ‘Pride in the Job’ awards, awarded by the NHBC.  Only one of the four 2009 awards given to the West region went to another contractor.

Developments where Brandwells was the groundworks contractor have won four regional ‘Pride in the Job’ awards for 2009, awarded by the NHBC.  Awards for the south west region went to Barratts site managers Bob Burgess, Martin Link and Alan Parrott, who are responsible for the schemes at Page Court, the Link and Fieldways, Paulton, respectively.

Across the border in Wales, Syd James has won an award for the Redrow development at Llys Ffynnon, Pontllanfraith.  The four men now go forward to the national final in London in January.

Now in their 28th year, NHBC’s Pride in the Job Awards are presented to site managers who have demonstrated outstanding levels of skill across 38 areas of site management, including technical expertise, quality control and health and safety.

NHBC launched the campaign in 1980 to help raise standards in new home construction.  The awards are designed to ensure not only that sites are safe for workers but that they present the right impression to buyers who are looking for an assurance of quality.

The competition is rigorous, with around 13,000 site managers across the UK entering.  Each manager is assessed over 12 months to gauge an accurate view of how they manage their site and the overall quality and finish of the new homes.  See http://www.nhbc.co.uk/NewsandComment/PrideintheJob/
